We are looking for a motivated and hands-on Investigator to join the Antibody Discovery & Engineering (ADE) department. The successful candidate will contribute to the early phases of therapeutic antibody discovery, focusing on the generation, screening, and selection of multi-specific antibody candidates.
The role is laboratory-based and will involve molecular biology, DNA construct generation, antibody expression, purification and characterisation including developability assessments. Prior experience of antibody discovery and optimisation would be beneficial, but training will be provided. You will operate in a collaborative and dynamic environment, contributing to pipeline programs and the advancement of next-generation biologics.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and generate multi-specific antibody constructs for expression and screening
- Apply molecular biology techniques such as microbiology, recombinational cloning, PCR, and DNA sequence analysis
- Perform expression of antibodies and antigens in transient systems (e.g., HEK, CHO) that will include cell culture activities
- Support protein purification workflows and buffer exchange (e.g., Protein A, SEC, IMAC)
- Perform antibody multi-specific antibody developability assays such as AC-SINS, polyspecificity ELISAs, melting temperature assessment, purity by capillary gel electrophoresis and size exclusion chromatography
- Conduct basic data analysis and maintain detailed experimental records in Lab-book system
- Contribute to internal reports, data presentations, and method documentation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including, Lead Identification, Protein Sciences and Cell Sciences
- Participate in internal meetings and communicate research progress to stakeholders
- Comply with laboratory safety standards and contribute to a culture of scientific rigor and teamwork
EDUCATION AND DESIRED EXPERIENCE
Essential:
- MSc or BSc in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or a related field, with relevant practical experience
- Strong practical knowledge in molecular biology, including DNA manipulation and cloning
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Strong scientific curiosity and critical thinking
- Ability to plan, execute, and analyze experiments independently
- Organized, flexible, and able to thrive in a dynamic research environment
- Professional fluency in English, both written and verbal
Nice to Have (Training Will Be Provided):
- Experience in cell culture (e.g., HEK293, CHO cells)
- Knowledge of protein production and purification methods
- Exposure to binding kinetics and affinity assessment (e.g., SPR, Octet, CBA)
- Familiarity with antibody sequence analysis, developability profiling, or hit-to-lead workflows
